We let our homes in three different ways:

• Council nominations
• Our waiting lists
• Open adverts on our Find A Home page

Nominations

We have agreements in place with local councils to provide homes for people who are in the greatest need. We take nominees from their existing lists or Choice Based Lettings schemes for a large percentage of our homes.

This approach looks different in each of the regions we work in and depends on our arrangements with local councils.

Waiting lists

We hold waiting lists for some of our properties. This is mainly for our current tenants who urgently need to move, or who are over or under occupying their homes. We sometimes open these lists for new applicants however, due to high demand, this doesn’t happen often.

You can ‘save a search’ to be notified when we open a list that meets your criteria. We want people on our waiting lists to move as quickly as possible, so we only open lists when we know homes of that type and size are going to become available.

Open Adverts/Available Now properties

We sometimes advertise immediately available homes on our website. These are homes where we have not been successful in letting via our partnerships with our local authorities or our waiting lists.

We usually only have a handful of these properties available at a time; you can find these here. To be notified when one of these properties becomes available and matches your needs, please ‘save a search’.

These specialist schemes combine independent living, with care and support services. Shared Ownership with Severn Homes

There are three steps to our application process.

• Step 1: Application.

  If you’re nominated by a local council or apply via one of our adverts, start by filling out our short online application. You’ll need to:

  • Tell us about yourself and your household
  • Upload ID for everyone moving
  • Provide two months of bank statements

• Step 2: Assessment.

  Our Lettings Team will call you to go over your application and understand your housing needs. We'll discuss what matters most to you and check that your new home is going to be affordable.

• Step 3: Offers.

  If a property is available to you, we’ll arrange a viewing. If you’re added to a list, we’ll get in touch as soon as something suitable becomes available.

  It's important that you engage with us throughout the application process and provide documents and information in a timely manner.

Rent in advance.

You’ll need to pay rent upfront for any of our homes. You might be eligible for financial help, such as Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP) or Homeless Prevention Grants.
